  • Notes // Примечания: “The Russian newspaper New Life reported the death of Mrs. A. S. Matveeva who took a big dose of veronal and opened all the taps of a gas cooker before falling asleep. Doctor who was called out to Mrs Matveeva’s home at 86 former Route Pershing, established that her pulse was not beating and immediately sent her to the Jewish Hospital. All measures to revive her including artificial respiration proved of no avail. Mrs Matveeva left a note ‘Please do not blame anyone for my death.’” There two A S Matveevas in ERC, Anna Spiridonovna and Anna Stepanovna, but none at this address. There is a fake grave in Song Qingling Memorial Park.
