Smoke was noticed coming out from bathroom at 2 am and the fire alarm was raised. The blaze actually did not develop, being put out by those present in a minute or two, before the arrival of the fire brigade.” The Russian press claimed that Nicolaeva hit a stone portal with her head and ended up hanging on the tree, upside down.
