  • Notes // Примечания: “Hanging from an overhead water pipe in a room in a small hotel in Peace Terrace, the body of A. Popoff, unemployed Russian geological engineer, was found by the inmates at 6 pm yesterday. Formerly employed by the CER, Mr Popoff arrived in Shanghai about 10 days ago searching for work. He was known to be without funds and his death was attributed to suicide. He had put through a telephone call to a friend about 5.30 urging him to come and see him, but when the friend arrived, the doctors were already working over his body. The deceased lives a wife and a small son in Harbin.”
