He was involved in the construction of a fortress in Vladivostok, taught in Nikolaev Engineering Academy and served as a miner during the World War, obtaining the rank of a Colonel in 1919. In 1920–1934 he was in Harbin, owning a cement plant and constructing buildings. From 1934, he lived in Shanghai, also involved in construction.
