- Notes // Примечания: Born in a rich landowner’s family, Olga Kokoreva was educated at various Moscow monasteries and became a nun in 1911, having assumed the name Rufina. After the 1917 revolution she was pushed to the east and attempted to revive a women’s convent in Vladivostok before arriving in Harbin in 1923. In 1927, the convent moved to Shanghai where eventually her subordinate Mother Ariadna became mother superior, operating also St. Olga’s Orphanage for Girls, at 350 Avenue du Roi Albert.
