The deceased, a married woman, whose husband has been away from Shanghai for some years, went to Yangtszepoo on Monday evening and celebrated the Jewish Festival with some friends there. She returned home at 2 p.m. She was then found at her room upstairs, lying on the bed face down, with a towel tied tightly around the neck in a reef knot. Death has evidently been caused by strangulation. The room has been ransacked, although the furniture had not been thrown about. The search, though hurried, had been conducted quietly."
