- Notes // Примечания: “Swallowing a large quantity of lysol, Nina Shlestrup, 20-year old Russian taxi dancer, committed suicide early yesterday morning. From her flat, 49 Hwakee Avenue, Bubbling Well Road, she was rushed to the General Hospital in a municipal ambulance, and died there without regaining consciousness. She had left no notes of any sort to clear up the cause of her actions. She had only recently took up residence there, and it is surmised that her income was large enough to support her and aging mother, living at Wayside.” In the past week mother had moved in with Nina, on Nina’s request, but nothing about their stay together forebode the final actions of the young woman. In mother’s words, ‘preparing to go to bed, Nina walked out to the bathroom where she must have taken lysol.’ After five minutes she started emitting loud groans, awakening her mother. Then she victim admitted to taking lysol to end her life and asked mother not to try to save her. Nina Shlestrup was born in Imanpo. Her mother, Anisia Mihailovna, was born in Ekaterinodar in 1882; she was a widow.
