- Notes // Примечания: “Death claimed a prominent Russian journalist and military critic Sichev, who was a correspondent of the local Soviet newspaper The New Life. The deceased had been a general in the Czarist army, took part in the Russo-Japanese and the first great wars. Like many other Russian officers he found himself opposing the revolution and after the collapse of the White movement came to Harbin. He arrived in Shanghai in 1936, after his deportation from Manchuria for refusing to cooperate with the Japanese. For several years the late Gen. Sichev wrote editorials for the now defunct Slovo, and his excellent and truthful war reviews were widely praised. The war against Germany in 1941 opened his eyes to reality and he began working for the good of his country. His first article in the Soviet paper appeared in 1943, and he continued writing for it until illness overcame him.” Sichev was born in Amur Province. In Shanghai he lived at 318/2 Rue Bourgeat. He was survived by son Igor Sitcheff, b. 1913, known as the cartoonist Igos, and daughter Tamara, b. 1914. ERC 121201.
