His body was found hanging in Savoy Hotel by the houseboy, who opened the door when his knock was not answered. “Sokol killed himself by fastening his belt around his neck from a mosquito-bar hook in the ceiling. He jumped from the top of the dresser and the force of the fall broke his neck making death practically instantaneous. No reason for his suicide could be found yesterday, but it is believed business worries drove him to take the fatal step.”
