- Notes // Примечания: “Lost his life during the disastrous voyage of the SS Hsin Wah, which sunk on the 16th of January last, while on a voyage from Shanghai to Hongkong. At the time of his death, the deceased had been for over 4 years in the employ of the China Merchants Steam Navigation Co. as third engineer, and had been engaged all the time on board the same steamer.” Four hundred people died in that wreck. Solomoniuk was survived by wife and sons, one of whom was working in a local hide and fur firm, and the other in school in Belgium. The wife sued the company for compensation, aided by the Russian Emigrants’ Committee and the charitable Belgian lawyer Dr O. Fischer, of Musso, Fischer & Wilhelm.
