  • Notes // Примечания: “Ivan Strelchuk hung himself with his belt, one end of which he pushed through the crevice above the door of his little room. The tragedy was discovered when a girl living next door went in to call him for breakfast. Upon getting no reply she pushed the door thus releasing the belt and letting the body fall to the floor. She saw Strelchuk lying on the floor with his tongue sticking out of his mouth, screamed and fainted, thus attracting the attention of other inmates who rushed to the room.” He had been in Shanghai for 6 months and lived in a boarding house on Route Vallon. Left a suicide note, asking not to blame anyone for his death. Survived by mother in Harbin.
