  • Notes // Примечания: Shanghai’s leading Russian doctor, Dr Tarle was a native of Kiev. He worked in Kherson psychiatric hospital before moving to Behterev’s clinic in Saint Petersburg. In 1924, he was dispatched to Mukden where he worked in a hospital of Zhang Zuolin’s army. From 1926 he lived in Shanghai. He was chairman of the Russian Medical Society. Married to Anastasia Mihailovna, b. 1889 in Petersburg. “Died at his residence, 1202, Gascogne Apartments, the beloved uncle of Larissa and Freddy Lilienthal.”
