- Notes // Примечания: “A great many friends gathered to pay their last respects to one who at all times was gentle, kind and understanding to all end especially toward suffering animals. An especial wreath from her animal pets was placed upon the casket in which rested their beloved mistress. Mrs Tokmakoff’s passing came as a great shock, she having being ill only one day.” Born in Odessa in a family of a well-known engineer and a physician. “She had the best education and after leaving a convent followed the example of her mother and and studied medicine in Tomsk, but the Russian revolution put an untimely end to this.” She came to Shanghai from Harbin, with her husband, Colonel Tokmakoff. Devoted to her profession and her animals, she stayed away from social life and kept eight snow-white poodles. Fake grave exists at Song Qingling Memorial Park; Find-A-Grave ID 114267722.
