  • Notes // Примечания: “A most brutal murder was committed in the early hours of yesterday morning in a house at 232 Fearon Road. The victim was a foreign woman, a Russian Pole, who with other women occupied this house. Her roommates found the body lying on the bed drenched with blood. The woman has been most savagely stabbed in fifteen places on the body and neck. No signs of struggle were apparent: everything pointed to a sudden, cold-blooded and deliberate onslaught.” Some of victim’s possessions were missing, other were found on the floor, such as a gold ring with rubies. Four persons were detained in the connection with the murder; among them a foreign hawker who visited the house earlier, and a foreigner who was on terms on intimacy with another woman in the house; other detainees were the servants.
