Died at his residence, 788 Bubbling Well Road. “Doctor Civray belonged to an older generation of Russian doctors in Shanghai, whose number comfortably exceeds a hundred. He was known in the research field, recognized as worthy by the world-famous physiologist Dr Pavlov. After graduating from the middle school Dr Civray entered the medical faculty of the Imperial University of Kazan. From the year 1898 he was on government work, first as a village doctor. In 1902, he was invited into university and became assistant lecturer in pathological anatomy, working under Prof. Lubimoff. After seven years at the university and the defense of his dissertation, he was appointed to a corps of border guardsmen in Manchuria, but was called to the German front. Upon his return, he acted as a medical adviser to the Board of Directors of the Chinese Eastern Railway. In 1933 he arrived in Shanghai and quickly built up a large practice, working at it until his death.” He was survived by wife Ekaterina Yakovlevna, b. 1887 in Kishinev, who left for San Francisco after his death.
