  • Notes // Примечания: “Mrs Damerink, Russian, 33, threw herself before a moving train on the Woosung-Shanghai line at the Tien Tong An Road crossing near Hongkew Park. Driver who saw the woman laying down on the track jammed the engine, but it was too late to save her. She was terribly smashed. As a result of the incident, the train, carrying around 100 passengers of the laborer class, arrived at the North Railway Station 15 minutes late. The body of the victim was identified by her husband who lives in Avenue Joffre. It is said she committed suicide because of her ill health.”
