In 1923, the Finelands left Odessa for Harbin due to extreme hardships of life during the Russian Revolution, including famine, and the lack of employment for Jews. Leib’s older brother was already in Harbin. In 1927, the Finelands moved from Harbin to Shanghai. An engineer by profession, Leib Fineland had problems with his heart and was unable to work, so the sons supported him and wife. They lived at 92/23 Route Marcel Tillot. ERC 31953. Fineland’s gravestone was moved to the Buddhist Cemetery, where Shanghai Jewish Memorial found it in 2002. Link.
