Grosine, aged 53 years, the dearly beloved husband of Lydia Grosine, father of Tamara, Muza, Miliza, and grandfather of Kalaria.” Bio from Zhiganov (1936), p. 111: “Journalist and active participant of national press in the Russian Far East. Worked in Shanghai from 1922 onwards. Contributed to almost all Russian newspapers, edited and published his own papers, the Courier and Daily News.” Grosine’s political affiliations were varied, and at various times he contributed to pro-Soviet, anti-Soviet and fascist publications. Interested in Grosine’s pro-Soviet activities, the Shanghai Municipal Police had an extensive file on him. His aliases were Grosin, Tanaeff and Fire; he was also connected with the periodicals Kopeika (1933), OK Weekly and Shanghai Belle, being the owner and editor of Russ Press and the publisher All-Russian Calendar. Previous to the revolution he was a Police officer in a large gold mine at Lena. In 1919, he briefly held a post of examining Magistrate in the Soviet Tribunal in Vladivostok. In 1921, he joined the staff of Vladivostok newspaper, of anti-Soviet orientation. Upon coming to Shanghai in 1922, he worked at the emigre paper Taifun, in 1926 he was with the pro-Soviet paper New Shanghai Life until its closure in 1926. He collaborated with A. V. Chilikin in Utro, Echo and Den, all purely White in policy. He also edited Russkie Mysli [Russian Thoughts], Courier (discontinued in 1930) and wrote for Slovo. In 1934, he started the newspaper Segodnya. Grosine lived at 321 Route de Sieyes with wife and three daughters. ERC 41427.
