Istomin was temporarily employed at the Municipal Electricity Department, on the coal-transporting plant, from June until early September 1925, during the strike, on the termination of which he was taken on permanently on similar duties, and was so engaged up to the time of his death. On Tuesday he had occasion to go to a spot close to where the overhead carriage runs on a steel track in order to make a small adjustment. Having done what was necessary, and the operator set the machinery in motion. On the return journey, he made the shocking discovery of the deceased’s body crushed between the steelwork, practically decapitated.”
