The tragedy occurred at 1201 Avenue Joffre at about 11 pm, when Kuzmin’s neighbor Juchkin heard cries from Kuzmin’s room. Rushing there he saw Kuzmin’s door open and the man himself lying on the threshold. Lying on the bed was Mrs Sofia Kuzmin, his 34-year-old wife. Both were still alive. Mrs Kuzmin’s son by her first marriage, seven-year-old George, was sleeping peacefully and Juchkin took him from the house. Kuzmin died early next morning. Mrs Kuzmin was still alive although her condition was said to be almost hopeless.” Sofia Kazimirovna Kuzmina was born 4 August 1911 in Blagoveschensk.
